Although very similar to Gyrotonic movements, Gyrokinesis exercises are usually practiced in a group setting, without any equipment. We start out on a chair with gentle movements for the spine, and then move on to do exercises on the floor, and sometimes also in the standing position. The 75 min class follows a rhythmic flow, harmonizing your breathing with the exercises.
Since you, as the student, will imitate the movements of the teacher, it is recommended, but not necessary, that you take a few private Gyrotonic lessons first to familiarize yourself with the exercises. Both Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis exercises are a very rejuvenating experience for your body, and will ultimately teach you a healthier way to move.
